Reliable Power Solutions for Perkoa Mine’s Operations
Owned by Trevali in Canada, Perkoa was a zinc mine in Burkina Fasso has been in operation for decades. When the Caterpillar-driven power station servicing the mine on a 24/7 island power basis needed emergency services, the client called USP&E.
Challenges
Overcoming Reliability Issues in Power Supply
The power station was overdue for major services and was beginning to experience significant issues with reliability. The project is located 120km west of the capital city of Ouagadougou.
Solution
Comprehensive Overhauls and Spare Parts Delivery
USP&E deployed a team within days of the request to perform a site visit and then get to work. We rapidly shipped in spare parts for the Cat 3516B and MAK 6CM32 engines and auxiliary equipment. We performed top, bottom and major overhauls, 12k and 16k services, and supplied only Cat certified spare parts.
