USP&E was awarded a 26x Cummins KTA50G3 generator order for a major lithium mining concern in Mali, West Africa. The scope of supply includes switchgear, fuel tanks, and other aspects. USP&E is the EPC and O&M contractor for this project.

“USP&E is extremely excited about our new channel partnership with Wabtec, formerly a GE company. We will be stocking spares and offering full rebuild and field services to the Wabtec power plant currently installed in South Africa, and offering new 16V250 packages as well.”

The Wabtec 16V250 is one of the more efficient and low NOx engines available on the plant. At 4.3MW each, these engines are medium speed and designed to run base load and save millions in fuel costs over high speed alternatives. With the energy crisis in South Africa, Wabtec is an ideal choice.

USP&E has been awarded supply contract for two GE TM2500 gas turbines to run on natural gas and to power a new crypto mining facility in Alberta, Canada, for a listed Canadian energy company.

USP&E has been awarded EPC and O&M contract to supply, install and operate a diesel + solar power station at a new mine in Madagascar.

USP&E was awarded and rebuild and spare parts supply contract for Trevali’s Perkoa Mine in Burkina Faso. USP&E will rebuild the client’s Cummins power station and bring it back online on a mission critical, urgent basis.

Africa is the world’s fastest-growing continent, and with this has come the need for more power to drive economic growth. However, presently, Africa suffers a severe power deficit that has emerged as the greatest threat to meeting its economic growth in the future. An African Development Bank report estimates that only 26% of Sub-Saharan Africa’s population has access to electricity and for those who do have, the spectrum of power outages is all too common resulting in a production loss of 12.5% Diesel power offers a stopgap as standby power or as prime power in more remote areas, and the difference in the economic development gains is like the difference between night and day. During power outages, emergency backup electrical generators powered by diesel engines provide reliable, immediate and full strength electric power. As a highly accomplished executive and entrepreneur, USP&E CEO Will Gruver was selected by The Dallas Business Journal to join its 2012 class of 40 Under Forty. Honorees were announced online at dallasbusinessjournal.com and in the newspaper during the week of June 18.

Gruver, who founded the full-service energy solutions company specializing in diesel, natural gas, HFO, and renewable power station engineering, was among 39 other executives and entrepreneurs who are at the top of their games professionally and have demonstrated a commitment to the North Texas community.

To qualify for the honor, candidates have to be 39-years-old are younger as of Aug. 24, 2012 and have a proven track record in both business and community involvement. In its search for the 2012 class, The Dallas Business Journal looked for innovators, dealmakers and influential leaders who excelled in their respective companies and industries while showing dynamic leadership in their communities.

Award recognizes entrepreneurial excellence in the Environmental and Construction category

Ernst & Young announced that Will Gruver, President and CEO of USP&E, provider of power stations and equipment in emerging growth markets, received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year 2012 Award in the Environmental and Construction category in the Southwest Area North. Will Gruver was selected by an independent panel of judges, and the award was presented at a special gala on June 23, 2012 at the Hyatt Regency Dallas hotel in Dallas, Texas.

USP&E has begun demolition of a large Cold War era power station building in one of the largest capitals of West Africa in order to build a brand new power station for a key client. “We are very excited about the opportunity to make a huge difference in Africa. USP&E has orders and LOIs now for over 500MW of power station projects in West Africa and projects another year of 200%+ growth.

USP&E announced today the award of a contract to Engineer, Procure and Construct a 150MW HFO MAN power station for a key client. “This win demonstrates our growing footprint in Africa, and we are excited to have already gotten started”, stated Steve Shipley, VP Global Engineer. USP&E expects this plant to grow to over 600MW in 2012.

USP&E announced today the award of a 5-year Operations and Maintenance Contract in Sierra Leone. After 14 months of Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC), USP&E successfully commissioned this 13MW HFO Power Station on time and on budget. “We are thrilled with our results, but even more so with the overall success of our partnership with our client. It took everything we had and more to get this done, and we are very grateful for the work,” Jason Biermeier, COO/Executive VP of USP&E.

Carlson Wagonlit Travel has chosen USP&E to service UPS and generator installations at all of their 39 North American locations. USP&E was chosen based on their competitive bid, innovative approach to service, attention to the needs of the prospective customer and timely follow-up during the bid process regarding any issues or questions. With 20+ years of experience in the telecom and data center space, Mr. Richard Eder (Construction and Service Manager) provided a basis from which to understand the needs of Carlson’s facilities. “Carlson is excited to work with us because we presented a comprehensive program of unit assessment and a path to full operational status for each of their UPS and generator units. Uptime is essential to mission-critical contact centers and data facilities. Should utility power fail, the UPS has to be ready to assume the load”, stated Mr. Eder. This contract represents an important and growing market in USP&E’s suite of services, including construction of power stations, data rooms, emergency generator services and other related offerings.

USP&E signed a contract last week to install the HFO power station and HFO fuel farm at an iron ore mine in Africa. Towers Watson awarded USP&E Global with data center engineering, equipment procurement and construction projects in Minneapolis today. “We are very pleased to have been selected to work on design and build out data centers for TW as a single-source EPC firm”, stated Jason Biermeier, VP of Global Development.

Cricket Communications awarded USP&E diesel generator/data center installation projects in Tulsa, Oklahoma, San Antonio, Texas and Tucson, Arizona this month.

USP&E will be supplying, installing and maintaining a diesel power station that is expected to be over 60mW by 2012 in Sierra Leone, West Africa. USP&E is very excited about its partnership with its London-based client. USP&E will be installing brand new Containerized HFO Generators made by Hyundai in South Korea.

USP&E announced the sale of three diesel generators to a key client in Bangkok in August. “We believe that this demonstrates that our oil and gas clients in Asia are beginning to see more of a lift economically,” stated Global Development VP Jason Biermeier. USP&E has been selected to perform an 18-story diesel generator Engineering, Procurement and Construction upgrade for a data center client in Minneapolis. USP&E announced today that it has been tapped to build out a medium-sized data center facility for a long-standing client.
